Pregnant With Cancer
Hi, my name is LaNell Jones & I was pregnant with Cancer… I’ve decided to start a blog as many people have told me that I should so I decided I would take everything step by step with you starting from the beginning. I am 32 years old & my journey started just before turning 30. I’ve been very public with my journey on Facebook and Instagram but to gain a larger audience I have decided to take my story even more public. I am not a writer by any means and have never ran a blog so this will be a learning experience for us all. My hopes for this blog is that I can spread awareness and hope. I am not the first person to go through cancer, I am not the first woman to go through a pregnancy & I am definitely not the first woman to do both at the same time. I am however here and willing to share my experiences with you.
A little background on me, obviously this is my photography page but if I can use it as another platform to spread awareness then why not? I grew up in a large family, I’m the second oldest of seven. I have five sisters and a brother, my older sister has Down Syndrome. I am the proud aunt to three nephews and two nieces. My parents have been married since they were 19 years old and in September of 2016 my Dad began the diagnosis process of Early Onset Alzheimer’s. My Dad’s paternal grandmother & paternal uncle both passed of Alzheimers both diagnosed much later in life. His diagnosis scares me, this is a hereditary illness and I have a memory like an elephant. I can’t imagine my memories fading away like that. His diagnosis will come into play later on in my story and have more relevance.
You see in October of 2016 we began trying to conceive. I had previously been told that when I was ready to start trying I was going to need to see a doctor, that I most likely was not going to be able to conceive on my own; no other explanation besides that. Becoming a mom was the only thing in life that I knew that I wanted to do, my boyfriend and I (now husband) decided that this was something that we both wanted so we began trying, knowing that this was something that may take a while. We had our dogs, jobs, the perfect house for raising a family but most importantly we had each other.

I love how you are setting the stage! This may seem scary to do, relive it all, but I know many women will benefit

I look forward to following your journey. I am a survivor for 11 years, raising a daughter with Spina bifida. It is important for those of us that have gone through this to inspire and provide hope to others!
